Barnes and Noble Haul

Hey Book Nerds!

So, I know this haul is almost a week late, but, better late than never, right? So, last Saturday (July 18th) I took a trip to Barnes and Noble and bought three books and a set of four magnetic bookmarks. I will link the descriptions on Goodreads for each book. So, here is the haul:

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17185496-the-sacred-lies-of-minnow-bly?ac=1

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17675462-the-raven-boys?from_search=true&search_version=service

The DUFF by Kody Keplinger

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6931356-the-duff?ac=1

Unfortunately, for some reason, I am having issues uploading pictures that I have taken so I can not show you a picture of the bookmarks. I tried looking online for them, but they were not showing up. However, I can describe them. They are the Peace Out Page Clips from Re-marks. It is a set of four magnetic bookmarks that are very colorful and come in four different designs: a peace sign, a Volkswagen bus, a butterfly, and a rainbow with clouds on the ends and a heart in the middle. I’m sorry I couldn’t get the picture to work or find one online.

I hope you guys enjoyed this haul and be sure to check out the books I listed. Also, let me know if you have read any of these books and let me know your thoughts on them! All images came from Goodreads.com.

Crush Your TBR Wrap-Up

Hey Book Nerds!

Well, as you can tell by the title, this is my #crushyourtbr wrap-up, except there is nothing for me to wrap-up. That’s right, I did not read at all during this readathon. My weekend was busier than I expected it to be. On Friday, I was just really lazy and did not feel like reading. Instead I binge-watched episodes of Switched at Birth on Netflix. On Saturday, we took a day trip to Atlanta, GA. It was a 2 1/2 hour car ride so I was able to read a little bit on the way there. I don’t remember how much I read at all but I think it was around 30 pages of Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. During that trip to Atlanta, we went to Barnes and Noble and I may have bought some books… So, look out for a Barnes and Noble haul! I couldn’t read on the way back because it was getting and I was tired so reading would’ve just put me to sleep. Sunday we were doing a lot of running around and I also wasn’t feeling to great all day Sunday so I just laid around when we weren’t running around. So, yes that was a bunch of excuses instead of a wrap-up, but life happens, y’know? Yes, I could’ve read a lot more than I did, but I just didn’t feel like it, so I didn’t force myself into a slump just to take place in a readathon. There are plenty more readathons happening these next few weeks for me to take part in, so watch out for posts about those!

However, in spite of not reading at all this weekend, I did read quite a bit last night. I read 53 pages of Dear John by Nicholas Sparks so I am now on page 152 out of 276. I am hoping to finish this book within the next couple of days. Yes, that may seem like a long time and I am sure some of you could read this entire book in a day, but I am a slow reader and I also read contemporaries at a much slower pace than I would, say, a fantasy novel. However, I did read those 53 pages pretty quickly last night, so I was surprised by that. I was considering putting this book down and picking up a fantasy, paranormal, or action book to get me out of the small slump I was feeling last night, but I powered through and read 53 pages that were absolutely amazing. That was enough to get me out of my slump. So, that’s enough of my rambling. I am going to go read more of Dear John! Remember, to keep an eye out for my Barnes and Noble haul and my upcoming readathon TBR’s and related posts.

Readathon Postponed

Hey Book Nerds!

Unfortunately, the Finish What You Start Readathon has been postponed until next summer. Now, I know that that is a long time from now, but The hosts and I have talked and we all have some person matters to take care of and decided that it would be in our and everyone else’s best interests to postpone the readathon so that it can be the best that it can be! I hope you all understand! I will continue to update the Twitter page, just as a twitter account for this blog. I hope you all continue to check out the Twitter page and this blog. Keep checking for TBR’s for upcoming readathons that are happening these next few weeks!

Finish What You Start-a-Thon

Hey Book Nerds!

Today, I have an exciting announcement for you all. I have created a read-a-thon! My read-a-thon is called Finish What You Start-a-thon or #FWYSathon. The purpose of this readathon is to finish books that you have put down for some reason- so in other words, books that you stopped reading. I know a lot of people (including me, I am extremely guilty of this) have books on their shelves that they have started reading but put down for some reason- whether you got bored with it, wanted to read something else, etc. This readathon is designed to help you finish those books and get them off of your TBR. However, this is only for books that you truly want to finish reading. If you absolutely hated a book and have no desire to finish it, then don’t! There is no need to put yourself in a reading slump. But, if there are books that you are still interested in finishing, then hopefully you will participate in this readathon! Now to those of you who are thinking “I don’t have any unfinished books on my shelves”, well don’t worry, because you can still participate! There are a couple of challenges designed for those of you who do not have unfinished books. So, just remember that anyone can participate. This readathon may be designed for finishing unfinished books, but anyone can participate! Now, on to the exciting stuff.

Dates:

July 18th 12:00am your time- July 25th 11:59pm your time

2.) Finish a book that you put down one or more years ago

3.) Finish a book that you put down less than one year ago

6.) Finish a total of four books

During the week, we will be hosting sprints so be sure to check out the twitter page for this readathon (https://twitter.com/FWYSathon).

Let me know if you will be participating in this readathon and watch out for my TBR that will be posted soon!

Cram-a-Thon Wrap-Up

Hey Book Nerds!

So, as a lot of you probably know, Cram-a-thon ended last night, so that calls for a wrap-up. I only got to read on Friday, about 10 minutes Sunday night, and some yesterday. However, I still managed to read three books and complete five challenges. So here is my wrap-up:

Friday:

Indigo by Alice Hoffman- 4/5 stars on Goodreads (84 out of 84 pages read)

Heartbeat by Sharon Creech- 3/5 stars on Goodreads (180 out of 180 pages read)

Sunday:

Rat Queens Volume One by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Roc Upchurch (10 out of 128 pages read)

Monday:

Rat Queens Volume One by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Roc Upchurch- 5/5 stars on Goodreads (118 out of 128 pages read)

Total pages read: 392

Challenges completed: Read a hardback, read a book written in verse, read a children’s book, read a graphic novel, and read two books in 24 hours.

Overall, I think Cram-a-Thon went really well. I did not read all five books that I wanted to read and I did not get to read as much as I wanted to. However, I did complete my Goodreads reading challenge of 12 books during Cram-a-Thon, which was exciting.

Let me know if you participated in Cram-a-Thon and if you did, tell me how it went for you!

Cram-A-Thon TBR (To Be Read)

Hey Book Nerds!

Today I am going to tell you guys about my Cram-a-Thon TBR! For those of you that have never heard of Cram-a-Thon, here is a little bit about it. Cram-a-thon was created by Whitney at WhittyNovels on YouTube. It takes place July 10th-13th beginning at midnight, your time (yes I know, I am a little late on posting this). It is a read-a-thon where you trying to cram in as much reading as possible to get books off of your TBR and to get closer to either your Goodreads reading goal or maybe even a personal goal. So, the object is to read the smallest books on your shelves to get that reading goal number up and your TBR number down. There are a list of challenges that are optional that you can base your books off of. Here are the challenges and the books I have chosen for each one:

1.) Read a children’s book- A Gathering of Days: A New England Girl’s Journal, 1830-32 by Joan W. Blos

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/306107.A_Gathering_of_Days?from_search=true&search_version=service

2.) Read a hardback- Indigo by Alice Hoffman

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/333115.Indigo?ac=1

3.) Read a graphic novel- Rat Queens Volume One: Sass and Sorcery by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Roc Upchurch

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20299683-rat-queens-vol-1?ac=1

4.) Read a book written in verse- Heartbeat by Sharon Creech

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53492.Heartbeat?ac=1

5.) Read a novella- I do not have a novella to read so I am participating in this challenge

6.) Read 5 books total- The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros (Since I did not have a novella, I just picked a random small book on my TBR)

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/139253.The_House_on_Mango_Street?from_search=true&search_version=service

7.) Read two books in 24 hours- my goal is to read Heartbeat and Rat Queens in 24 hours

Those are the challenges and my TBR based on the challenges. After cram-a-thon, I will post a wrap-up letting you guys know what books I read during these 3 days. Let me know if you guys are participating and what you are planning on reading! In the mean time, be sure to check out the cram-a-thon Twitter page here: https://twitter.com/CramAThon and Whitney’s YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/WhittyNovels. Good luck to those of you participating in cram-a-thon!

Welcome!

Hello fellow readers!

My name is Brittany and I am a 19 (almost 20) year old college student who loves reading and wants to share that passion with the world. I started avidly reading when I was in 8th grade (to give you an idea of long ago that was, I am an upcoming Junior in college) and since then, I have collected over 300 books that fill up the three bookshelves in my room. I decided to create a blog so I can discuss my reading endeavors with whoever stumbles upon this blog. I will have book hauls as well as unhauls, TBR’s, wrap-ups, Friday reads, reviews, and much more! I hope you enjoy!
