Hey Book Nerds!
I did it! I FINALLY finished The Raven Boys. Here are my thoughts:
I have very mixed feelings about this book. The premise of this book sounded amazing, and I’ve never read anything like this before, so I was really excited to read it. However, I was a little let down. First of all, this book took FOREVER for me to get into. The first 200 pages were really boring, in my opinion. I found myself not wanting to read it, which is why it took so long for me to finish it. The final 200 pages were really good though. I started to get into the book a lot more and started reading it quicker. That was my major issue with this book. Overall, I just felt very “meh” about this book. It’s hard for me to put into words what I disliked about this book. I guess it just didn’t blow me away like I thought it would. With that being said, I loved the characters. These characters were wonderful. They weren’t as developed as I would have liked them to have been (but who knows, I read those parts in June, so maybe I have just forgotten about it), but they were such strong, independent characters that had great relationships with each other. I absolutely loved Adam. He was by far my favorite of the Raven Boys, and possibly my favorite character from the entire book. He was so sweet, genuine, brave, and just overall a great person and friend. My heart broke for him constantly. Blue was my second favorite character. I loved her sassiness, wittiness, and her quick-witted responses. Blue is honestly me in character form. I liked the other characters as well, but don’t necessarily have strong opinions on any of them. I was, however, starting to really like Noah by the end as well.
Overall, this book was good, but just took me forever for me to get into, which is why I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars.
Should I continue on with the series?
